Introducing VerifiNow Payments: Bringing Verified Identity to the Point of Payment

VerifiNow Payments — Identity Bound Payments

A payment can be authorized while the identity of the person making it remains unconfirmed. For merchants, that gap matters—especially when a transaction leads to a fraud claim or an “I didn’t make that purchase” dispute.

We’re introducing VerifiNow Payments, an identity-bound payment gateway that brings payment processing and identity verification together in one platform.

The goal is straightforward: help businesses understand who is making a payment and connect that verified identity to the transaction.

Connecting the person to the payment

Payment credentials tell part of the story. Identity verification adds another layer: a government-issued ID, a selfie, and checks designed to assess whether the document is authentic and a live person is present.

VerifiNow Payments brings these checks into the payment workflow. Document authentication, facial matching, liveness detection, and checks for deepfake and spoofing signals work together to evaluate the person completing verification.

Where enabled, GPS-based location capture adds context about where the verification took place.

The verification results are then linked to the payment record, giving merchants a connected view of the transaction and the identity evidence behind it.

How the customer experience works

The customer begins checkout and provides their payment and billing information. When identity verification is required, they receive a secure link to complete the process from their mobile device.

They scan their government-issued ID and take a selfie. VerifiNow evaluates the document, checks the selfie for liveness and facial similarity, and compares the verified name with the name provided in the billing information. Location is collected when enabled and permitted.

Once the required checks pass, the payment proceeds to completion. If verification fails, the payment is not completed, and any existing authorization is voided according to the configured workflow.

Merchants can configure verification requirements around transaction values and risk signals, allowing identity checks to fit their checkout process.

One view for the merchant

When a payment question arises, teams need to understand what happened.

VerifiNow Payments brings payment details and identity verification results into a unified merchant view. That record can include:

  • Transaction details and payment status.
  • Identity document authentication and facial matching results.
  • Liveness checks and fraud signals.
  • Verification timestamps and supporting records.
  • GPS location information, where captured.

This gives payment, fraud, and customer service teams a shared record to review. It also provides identity evidence that may support an investigation or a payment dispute.

Identity verification does not guarantee that every dispute will be resolved in the merchant’s favor. It gives the merchant additional evidence about the person who completed verification at the time of the transaction.

A more connected approach to payment security

VerifiNow Payments is designed to help merchants address stolen payment credentials, impersonation, and account takeover at checkout by adding identity verification before a payment is completed.

It also brings payment processing and verification into a single workflow, reducing the need for teams to piece together separate records when reviewing a transaction.

For businesses accepting payments online, on mobile, or in person, the principle is the same: connect the payment to a verified person and make that connection visible.

That is what we mean by identity-bound payments.
